How A GPS Fleet Tracking System Operates

posted on 2 June 2011

A GPS system is a very effective way to improve your production and make your business grow. It helps you manage your vehicular assets, keep tabs on all your costs, open lines of communication between you and you clients and improve the performance of your crew all at the same time! So how does GPS tracking system get the job done? Think of it as a well-oiled machine. There are some sub-systems that make up your GPS system, each with a different (but important) task to perform. These systems are the GPS unit or device, the cell phone service provider and the receiving device. When put together, these sub-systems allow you to efficiently manage your fleet. It all begins with the GPS fleet tracking device that is installed into your vehicles. These devices use satellite technology to gather important information, such as the whereabouts of your vehicle, the speed of its travel and the direction it is headed towards. Once this information is complete, the device sends it to the receiver with the help of the cell phone service provider. Finally, authorized personnel may access the information that is secured in the receiving device with a password.

Moving Twice a Year: the College Years

posted on 22 May 2011

As a college student, who lives 4 hours away from her parent’s home, I’m forced to move twice a year. It never gets easier. In fact, I find that the older I get, the more difficult it is for me to move. I accumulate more and more things every year, especially, this past year. Last year, I lived in my own house that I was renting, along with two other roommates. I happened to supply the majority of the furniture that my sister and I had found online through the help of Craigslist and Free Cycle. Most everything ended up in storage with the stuff of another roommate. Together, we filled a 10 x 20 storage unit. It took over eight trips to haul all my heavy furniture and other possessions from my house to the unit in a small van (at least it had van roof racks though!). I’ve decided that after this especially difficult experience that I need to get rid of more of my things and sell them.
