Apropos French Reclamation in Rural France

I was travelling in rural France, on a French reclamation buying trip. I called in at a few of my favourite haunts and was very impressed by the diverse selection of some of the items available. There were lots of large oak beams from a recent water mill demolition, some very large and decorative gates and gate pillars from a long forgotten chateau in a small town in France. There were some huge granite lintels from the same chateau, and there were also copper pans, cast iron cook pots, French wood burning stoves, French cutlery and crockery sets, some pretty glass demijohns, some large French window shutters, impressive chateau windows and doors, granite and oak fireplaces, a pair of magnificent bookcases and some wonderful Parisian floor tiles. Unfortunately, this was all a long while ago, but it is still possible to buy some wonderful items here in France if you look in the right places.
